The course is advanced. Experience in at least one programming language and familiarity with operating system and memory management concepts are expected; assembly knowledge is developed within the course.

How does it differ from malware analysis?

Reverse engineering is a general skill that applies to any compiled program. Malware analysis is that skill specialised for malicious software, and additionally covers dealing with evasion techniques.

Which platforms are covered?

The course works primarily with the x86 architecture and Windows binaries; the methods taught transfer to other platforms.
